Headteacher's Update
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the first edition of our fortnightly St Paul’s Academy newsletter. It is a joy to share with you some highlights from the last few weeks.
Art – Op Art and Architecture
Our Year 9 students have been working exceptionally hard this term, exploring architecture and perspective in drawing. They have also completed a unit on Op Art, learning how artists use lines and shapes to create striking optical illusions.
One student, Arthur, produced a particularly captivating Op Art–inspired piece using oil pastels. Well done to Arthur and the entire year group for their creativity and dedication.

Green Careers Week
From 3rd to 7th November, our Year 10 and Year 11 students took part in Green Careers Week, exploring emerging careers in sustainability. Through a series of virtual assemblies delivered by experts—from waste management to sustainable energy—students gained valuable insights into careers that are shaping the future of our planet.

Year 7 Silent Disco

St Paul’s held its first-ever silent disco, and our Year 7 students did not disappoint! The main hall glowed with neon colours as students danced, sang and even tried out their DJ skills.
A huge thank you to the Year 7 pastoral team and our prefects for organising such a joyful and memorable event.

Drama – New Views Playwriting Programme

Playwright Jennifer Farmer visited our Year 10 Drama students to launch the National Theatre's New Views competition. Students shared their initial concepts and ideas, impressing Jennifer with their maturity and creativity. She remarked, “This is why St Paul’s is St Paul’s,” high praise from such a respected figure in theatre arts.

Sixth Form Options Assembly
Our Year 11s received an informative and inspiring presentation from Shooters Hill College, outlining pathways available to them after Year 11. With over 200 learners in attendance, students explored a wide range of subjects, courses, and career opportunities awaiting them in post-16 education.

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award
Before half-term, our Year 11 students completed their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Practice Expedition (13th–14th October). They navigated, cooked, camped, and persevered through a demanding two days. We are incredibly proud of their resilience and teamwork.

High Aspirations
Two of our Year 11 students, Daniel and Fortune, attended interviews at Eton College last week. We are immensely proud of both boys for their ambition, hard work, and courage. Their efforts reflect the high aspirations nurtured within our St Paul’s community.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us ensure St Paul’s Academy remains a community where every child is known, heard, seen, and loved. We look forward to sharing many more achievements with you throughout the year, and we will be introducing our termly newsletter in the last week before the Christmas break.
Warm regards,
Miss Ryan
