Teaching Assistant – Literacy Interventions

Scale 4 (Royal Borough of Greenwich)

(35 hours) Term Time Only, Full Time Pro-Rated Salary £23,048.65

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic teaching assistant to deliver a range of literacy interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a variety of one-to-one and small-group reading interventions (both phonics-based and comprehension-focussed) tailored to individual learning profiles.
  • Assess and monitor reading progress, contributing to planning and evaluation with the Literacy Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and session delivery.
  • Manage and organise reading resources and intervention materials.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and holistic literacy support.
  • Engage in training and continuous development related to reading instruction, SEND strategies, and safeguarding.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSEs in English and maths at grade C or above (4–9)
  • experience in Rapid Plus or Lexonic (desirable)
  • experience supporting or delivering intervention programmes
  • a strong understanding of child development and SEN
  • a high levels of organisation, adaptability, and initiative
  • the ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
  • competence in using IT systems for data entry and resource management
  • a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to undergo ongoing training
  • prior experience supporting pupils with special educational needs

SEND TA

(8:00am - 3:30pm) Term Time Only, Full Time Pro-Rated Salary £23,048.65

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support SEND learners at St Paul’s Academy. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under direction, support the implementation and delivery of specific intervention programmes. 

  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and session delivery. 

  • Provide in-class support for SEND students. 

  • Manage and organise resources and intervention materials. 

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and holistic  support. 

  • Engage in training and continuous development related to SEND strategies, and safeguarding. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above (4–9) 

  • Experience in supporting or delivering intervention programmes 

  • A strong understanding of child development and SEN 

  • A high level of organisation, adaptability, and initiative 

  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team 

  • Competence in using IT systems for data entry and resource management 

  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to undergo ongoing training 

  • Prior experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
