Enterprise

Enterprise Education is about raising students’ aspirations and developing valuable skills for further education and employment in a range of activities.

Enterprise Education allows many young people a chance to achieve in ways they never thought were possible and it allows them to engage with people they would never normally meet. Our enterprise activities always focus on fundraising and the generosity of our community is astounding, as are the ideas our students come up with to raise money.

Since becoming an Academy in September 2005, we have supported numerous charities, organisations and local fund raising initiatives.

Thank you to all members of staff and students for their enthusiasm, time, commitment and generosity, which can always be relied on for any fundraising activities and events.

To date, we have raised in excess of

£180,000

At our Christmas and Easter Fayres, you can expect to see food from around the world, home-made soap, jewellery, Christmas decorations and many other products made by students and their families. Every year, Year 7 are challenged with ‘Flourishing Fivers’; they are given £5 and have to see how much money they can make from this original sum. Some activities have become annual events, including the Christmas Fun Run, the Rowathon, numerous raffles, car washing and plant sales.

We very much pride ourselves on the range of local, national and international charities we have supported through enterprise activities, again reflecting our commitment to Gospel values. Very often, we support a charity as a result of some direct link to members of our community and this means that students are involved on a personal level. Some of the charities we support are:

  • Sister Ann and her educational work in Kenya
  • Greenwich & Bexley Cottage Hospice
  • CAFOD
  • The Teenage Cancer Trust
  • Thamesmead Food Bank
  • Anerley Across, which takes disabled children to Lourdes
  • Shooting Star, CHASE, a Children’s Hospice
  • Weybourne Care Home for the elderly
  • Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital
  • Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton
