Breakfast

Breakfast is scheduled for different classes at different times between 8.15 and 9.45am which is the timing of period one. Traditionally, students have been sent outside for a 15-minute break each morning all at the same time. At the Academy, however, in order to reduce congestion and overcrowding we have organised breakfast and lunch so that all students are able to use the restaurant and have some time in the fresh air if they wish.

Second lesson lasts from 9.45 to 10.55 am

At 10.55 to 11.15 am students meet their tutor in their tutor group. Topics that are dealt with include:

Issues that present some difficulties, attendance monitoring, Academy business, announcements and delivering elements of the citizenship curriculum. At least once a week the students will participate in an assembly which reflects the ethos of the Academy.

Third lesson lasts from 11.15 to 12.25 pm

Fourth lesson replicates the arrangements for breakfast by incorporating a 30-minute lunch session. It begins at 12.25 and ends at 2.10pm. Students are not allowed to leave the school premises during break and lunchtime.

The fifth lesson ends at 3.20 pm and which is the official end of the school day. However, an extensive range of activities designed to enrich the students' education are available until 5 pm. The status of the Academy as a Sports College will see a range of individual and team sports being undertaken. Music, drama, additional subject tuition and individual study opportunities are all available to the students at the period between 3.20 and 5.00 pm.
