U12s Win London Gaelic Football Finals
Our U12 Gaelic Football team have recently completed their first season at this new sport by winning both the London Schools' Championship and in partnership with Dulwich Harps the London Club Championship.
This team had their first Gaelic Football training session in mid-March. The squad have attended all of the training sessions that have been provided and their progress has been phenomenal! In their first league game they were defeated by Parnells by 17 points and they also were beaten by Saint Kiernan's.
However, on Finals it was a very different story. In the semi-final they overcame Parnells by 10 points and in the final they beat St Kiernan's by 8 points. The team were led by captain, Nathan Davies and coached by Mr Akif.
Full details of all of the developments in Gaelic Football at Saint Paul's are available in our latest newsletter.

Saint Paul's on the right track - Again!
Saint Paul's Sporting prowess continues to exceed all beliefs. The Year 7 Indoor Athletics Team successfully competed in the
Greenwich Athletics Championships recently. The boys team are consistently strong and have won the indoor title three times in the last four years. The girls team have never reached the final stages until now!!!! It was a magnificant evening of competitive sport where all schools from Greenwich who qualified for the finals were competing at the Eltham Green sports College in a number of athletic activities, ranging from sprints, to jumps to relays.
With numerous evenings of coaching from the Sports Team at the Academy, students were well prepared and motivated to compete at the highest level. To our delight Mick Bond, representative of Cambridge Harriers Athletics Club and organiser of the annual event presented the Boys team and the Girls Team with the County Championship awards. This is an amazing achievement for all involved and an indication of the committment from both staff and students at the Academy towards promoting the Sports Specialism.
Well done!

Back from Africa
Bertrand is a good friend of Saint Paul's Academy. He spends his time supporting charitable causes in Africa. He has just got back from another trip to Africa. On this last visit, he delivered a football kit provided by the School to the children of a village. Despite successfully delivering the well anticipated football kit into the hands of village director Moussa Thiemoko Coulibali, Bertrand has had a fairly gruelling journey! He went through a great deal of attempted checks, road blocks, etc. Also, the killing incident in Mauritania added to his share of unpleasant and stressful times.
Still, he made it through, now he can enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
