Saint Vincent de Paul is a voluntary Christian society which has been set up in Saint Paul's for 3 years now. SVP Youth is made up of a dedicated team of Year 11 students who meet regularly and discuss ways of helping the community, working with the poor and the disadvantaged people in our local area. The organisation, set up by Mr Mc Cann and assisted greatly by Mr O’Connell and Miss Maestri, was established to compliment the Enterprise specialism and the excellent charity work led by Director of specialism Ms Stevenson.
As part of the fundraising initiative of SVP Youth we have set up a clothes recycling unit at the Academy where students and staff can bring along and bin old or unwanted clothes and shoes. All textiles will then be collected and processed in London. The SVP Youth will then receive money for the materials and use to sustain our magnificent community projects by both the SVP Youth group and Enterprise Specialism.
Mr Mc Cann will be holding assemblies on recycling in the coming weeks with the aim of educating the whole Academy community to the recycling initiative and also the whole idea of respecting the environment and becoming responsible global citizens
