Mr Smyth WINS at Croke Park

Mon, 04/06/2012

Mr Smyth.

We are delighted to hear of the most recent sporting news that London GAA Hurling team have won the Christy Ring final which was played today at Croke Park in Dublin and that our very own Brian Smyth, Maths and PE teacher at Saint Paul’s, was a pivot member of that illustrious team. Mr. Smyth, having captained his native county Westmeath last year, transferred to play for London in January.

With such an influx of young Irish immigrants to the city over the last few years, the London GAA are certainly gaining momentum. He was relishing this new challenge on the London squad and was so excited about the prospect of playing on that hallowed turf of the GAA Headquarters again. Winning an All Ireland medal is a magnificent achievement for any GAA athlete and for Brian we at Saint Paul’s would like to congratulate him on this truly outstanding triumph.

We wish him and his London companions every good wish and success for the forthcoming season.
