Michaela McAreavey RIP

Tue, 18/01/2011

The Community of Saint Paul’s Academy was shocked and greatly saddened to learn of the tragic death of Michaela McAreavey, only daughter of the Tyrone senior football team manager Mickey Harte, whilst on honeymoon in Mauritius with her husband John. Mickey Harte has been very closely associated with the Academy through our Gaelic football initiative and through him staff and students met Michaela.

It is impossible for us to comprehend the devastation that John and the Harte and McAreavey families feel at this time. To the Harte and McAreavey families we extend our deepest sympathy.

Saint Paul's Academy was represented at Michaela's funeral by Tomi Adeloye and Dean Philippe, Year 10 students and Mr Donnelly, Mr McCusker, Ms O'Neill and myself.

Tom Denning, Chair of Dulwich Harps GFC, accompanied the group of students and staff from Saint Paul's to the funeral.
