On Tuesday the 28th June, Mairtin MacGrath was presented with an 'Outstanding Leadership' award at the Jack Petchey achievements celebration at Greenwich Theatre. The entire community at the Academy would like to thank Mairtin for his continued commitment to the Sports Specialism and congratulate him on this richly deserving and prestigious award.
As a new build Academy with a sports specialism focus, we are now in the fortunate position to be able to use our expertise and magnificent facilities to assist our local and indeed wider community. A major success of this community initiative is the links we have with Primary schools and how as a Catholic Academy we open our doors to each and every school who, like us, see the importance and value of sport as a means of enriching our young children. Mairtin MacGrath, our relatively new PE and Primary School Sports coach has been an inspirational leader and the driving force with this sporting initiative. Working along side Michael Donnelly, our School Sports Coordinator, Mairtin works in a number of primary schools, developing magnificent links with our local community through the medium of sport - creating an unique ethos outside the curriculum.
It is through this involvement in the Sports Specialism initiative that Mairtin has also been an inspiration within Saint Paul's Academy. He obviously enjoys each opportunity at the Academy as he shares his knowledge and expertise in his kind and warm manner, which has been greatly admired by all staff. Mairtin, own his own Fitness and Health company, 'Max Pro Fitness' (www.maxprofitness.co.uk) where he works as a high performance trainer. Saint Paul's Academy are delighted to have Mairtin on board especially as he also assists the Sports Department with the Gaelic football initiative.
We would like to again congratulate Mairtin on this magnificent achievement.
