Here is an update from Mrs James who has just got back from Canada with Ethan.
It has been non stop since we got back from Canada, we arrived back on the Tuesday during the February half term and on Wednesday Ethan had to attend a 3 day training camp in Sheffield for the South East Conference (regional) U13’s team in preparation for the Inter Conference tournament in Hull over the May bank holiday weekend where his team came 3rd. This competition is used as a platform to showcase some of the best junior hockey talent in the UK. This year Ethan was a first year in the U13’s team, but he has been selected to attend the U14’s school of excellence in August where the England U14’s team will be selected, places at the school are usually reserved for 2nd year U13’s so a big achievement for Ethan.
Because Ethan was selected to represent England in the U13’s team in 2010/2011 a year early, he is still eligible for selection for the 2011/2012 team this year and has been asked to attend the first trials which are being held in Chelmsford on the 26th June.
All the while he was still competing with both the U12’s and U14’s league teams and both of which qualified for the Junior Ice National Final in Sheffield which was held a few weeks ago in Sheffield. The U12’s were runners up in the South 1 league and are now ranked 4th in the English league. The U14’s however were somewhat more successful and were not only crowned South 1 league champions but also the U14’s English Champions 2010/2011. Ethan’s is ranked No 1 in the U12’s with a save percentage of 94.3% this season, and his save percentage of 94.83% in the U14’s league puts him among the top net minders in that age group.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the you, Ms Henry, Ms Forte and everyone at Saint Paul’s for all your support. Ethan is very proud to be a pupil at Saint Paul's and strives to be a good ambassador.
Vanessa James
