Student Services
Student Services works with and offers support to all students and Learning Zones
in the school. Under our umbrella are the School's Chaplain, Learning Mentors and Counselling
Service. Although they now belong to a specific area within the school, there will be no
compromising of the confidentiality rules under which these invaluable people have always
worked. Our Counselling Service is able to call upon externally trained and accredited
counsellors when appropriate. We also work to meet the needs, both of those children who
are challenged by the mainstream curriculum and those who have special talents and abilities.
Student Services is responsible for providing
support for students whose behaviour
difficulties are such that their own learning
and that of others around them is being
continually compromised. This will include
drawing up effective Pastoral Support
Programmes, employing the extensive
expertise we have available within school,
as well as bringing in agencies from outside
where this is needed.
We are also aiming to develop the Behaviour
Management Unit, which in the past has
only been able to serve as an internal
exclusion facility, into something much
more pro-active where children can learn
to confront, evaluate and modify their own
conduct for the benefit of all.
